An earthquake of 6.2 magnitude hit the  southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. The earthquake caused panic, however there have been no reports of damage and injuries.

According to US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 46 miles north of La Paz, Mexico. It was centered in the Gulf of California.
As it was pretty strong, the schools were suspended on Wednesday across the state. A few other buildings are also expected to be closed on Wednesday, so as proper checking of the damaged can be done.

It was a strong tremor which was capable enough to cause severe damage. After the bigger quake, four more tremors were felt in and around the area which were around 4.8 magnitude or less. The quake hit at around 4:45 pm local time.

The tremor was so strongly felt that around 1,000 tourists flee from their hotels and took refuge on the beaches or in the gardens. There have been no special flights for the tourists to send them back.

The common public has been urged to maintain the calm during the aftershocks.

Mexico is the most seismologically active regions in the world as it sits on the top of three of the large tectonic plates.
